Description: This is a wonderful original antique small 17th Century boarded oak coffer / box / chest with later fitted lock plates. The coffer stands on its original shaped boarded feet with "V" grooves cut out to the sides with a small cut-out to the rear to allow for pipe work possibly. Rising over is the moulded front rail with a plain back panel, the coffer surmounted by a moulded edged lift-up lid, with later fitted hinges, which themselves are still of a good age, with original baseboard. The coffer has wonderful colour and patination, having a light oak finish which appears to be original. The box coffer is stamped, on the front edge, "RB" or "RR". A lovely little small box / chest / coffer. Date: The coffer box dates from the 17th Century.
Condition: The coffer is in good condition for its age, having some cup marks, adding to character, with a fine hand waxed finish. There are some minor shrinkage shakes, the whole piece having rustic character adding to the charm of the piece.
