MORE THAN 115 "HI-REZ" MAP ILLUSTRATIONS!
The oldest recorded map is a huge 9 foot long wall-painting discovered in 1963 at Catal Hoyuk - a prehistoric site in Anatolia. The painting clearly outlines a small city with some eighty buildings and an erupting volcano in the background. This simple map has been dated by archeologists to be approximately 6200 BC. Over the centuries, problems like calculating the size and shape of the earth, as well as the relative position of each country to one another, were eventually solved by Egyptian, Greek and Roman mathematicians and astronomers. This gave cartographers (map-makers) the ability to create more accurate and larger maps covering a wider terrain.
