WHAT A LOVELY EARLY SOUP LADLE!! Here we have a quite exceptional LATE 18TH CENTURY solid silver soup ladle. This is a stunning ladle! The pattern is called FIDDLE AND THREAD and is struck to both sides. Hallmarks are deep and clear. It is assayed in London,1798-year letter C. Makers are very good makers William Eley & William Fearn. What a delightful piece! This lovely ladle is of exceptional quality and is a most delightful piece of hefty table silver. Weight of actual silver is a good 207 grams (6.65 troy ounces)!! This ladle is very large at 12.75 inches in length!! The condition is very good apart from a small bruise to underside of bowl,i mention this for accuracy and in truth it in no way detracts. Stem is thick and strong, bowl is of perfect shape with a superb rim. A truly beautiful and most wonderful antique Georgian ladle of good weight and gauge. It is engraved with aquite lovely crest and motto and always has been, definitely no erasures either. The motto PER ARDUA translates into ''THROUGH DIFFICULTIES''.
