THE WITH LONDON
James Thomson 1700-1748 Scottish poet and playwright is best known for this work The Seasons and the lyrics of Rule Britannia. He originally published the poems Winter, Summer, and Spring, between 1726 and 1728 and in 1730 with the addition of Autumn the collection of poems were published as The Seasons. This collection of four poems became source material for much later bird poetry. A small volume with a total of 213 pages plus an engraved frontispiece portrait of Thomson and 4 full page plates by Cruickshank, which also includes a 21 page memoir of Thomson's life and a hymn.
