Thomas Sheridan 1719-1788 stage actor, theatre manager, and later a teacher of elocution. After working for twenty years on pronunciation and orthoepy he published the first edition of this work in 1780.

This is the second edition, a large volume with an engraved frontispiece portrait of the author, a preface, a section on prosodial grammar, then directions to foreigners, and dictionary with nearly 600 pages.

CONDITION
Antique full leather binding worn with some loss of leather to spine and front hinge, slight worm holes to inner margin of first few leaves, all other pages are good, a solid binding, all complete.
Size is 11 by 8¾ inches.
