   This is an early anonymously published edition of  Goldsmith's hugely successful novel. First published in 1766 it is still one of the most highly regarded works of eighteenth-century fiction.
 A tale which depicts the fall and rise of the Primrose family, presided over by the benevolent vicar, the narrator of a fairy-tale plot of impersonation and deception, the abduction of a beautiful heroine and the machinations of an aristocratic villain. Both comic and sentimental, the novel's popularity owes much to its depiction of domestic life and l family relationships.

Condition
18th Century full leather bindings, spines with raised bands, gilt tooled decorations and gilt lettered title labels, solid bindings with some slight wear, page are browned with some foxing, all complete.

Size of each volume is 6¾ by 4 inches.
