Charles Churchill 1731 - 1764, English poet, playwright, satirist and political writer.
Ordained in 1756 he soon resigned his post as a curate to take the life as a London dandy and satirist. He achieved fame with his Rosciad 1761, a fierce attack on contemporary actors, his other works include, the Apology 1761, Prophecy Of Famine 1763, and The Candidate 1764.

Original eighteenth century full leather binding, worn with cracks on hinges, pages have some browning, all complete.
