 Fitzosborne was the pseudonym of William Melmoth the Younger 1710-1799, author and  English classical scholar famous for his translations of Cicero and Pliny.
This work which consists of 74 fictitious letters to Philotes, Orontes, Cleora, Hortensius etc, was  admired for the elegance of language and for their just and liberal remarks on various topics, moral and literary.

Condition
Original 18th century full leather binding with raised bands and gilt tooled decoration, a solid binding with some wear and lacking spine title label, all pages are in good clean condition, all complete.
