William Beveridge1637-1708 was  born at Barrow, near Leicester, educated at Cambridge, and was Rector of Ealing 1661-1672, and of St Peter's, Cornhill, London, 1672–1704, then Bishop of St Asaph.
In his day he was styled "the great reviver and restorer of primitive piety" because in his sermons and other writings he dwelt on the Church of the early centuries.

This small thick volume contains the above 2 separate works.
 The first work 'Private Thoughts' is in two parts, each with its own title page, preface, contents pages, and page numbering, the first part is the ninth edition dated 1718, the second part is the fifth edition dated 1714.
The second work with its own title page, preface, contents pages and page numbering is the fifth edition dated 1714.

Over 600 pages in total.

Condition
18th Century full leather binding, spine with raised bands and gilt lettered title label 'Beveridges Thoughts & Prayers', leather has some wear and slight loss.
The title page of the first part of the first work has large loss, some pages of both works have staining browning and foxing, endpapers stained with loss.
Size is 3¼ by 5½ inches, 1½ inches thick.
