19 GLASS LANTERN SLIDES 

3¼ inches square 

These black and white slides record types of Brunswick Star cancellations in Edinburgh between 1863 and 1871 with manuscript notes referring to fitting of handles etc.

Similar to the stars illustrated in The Postmarks of Great Britain and Ireland by Alcock & Holland they will be of particular interest to a collector of these cancellations.

The origin is not known, they could have been made any time between around 1890 or so and the early 1950s, possibly photographed from a Post Office stamp proof book.

One slide has a crack but it does not interfere with the photo.
