THIS EARLY PAPER DEED IS PARTICULARLY NOTABLE FOR THE FACT THAT IT HAS AN IMPRESSED SIXPENNY REVENUE STAMP, APPLIED ONLY 2 MONTHS AFTER THE LAW INTRODUCING STAMP DUTY IN BRITAIN WAS PASSED.
IT IS ENTIRELY HANDWRITTEN ON BEHALF OF GEORGE CLARKE WHO STATES THAT MICHAEL PEMBERTON of ALNWICK and
EDWARD ADAMS of LONGHOUGHTON ARE BOUND TO HIM UNDER A BOND OF 1683 FOR THE SUM OF £10 BUT HE NOW APPOINTS EDWARD ADAMS AS HIS ATTORNEY TO DEAL WITH THE DEBT STILL OWING BY PEMBERTON.
As well as the revenue stamp already mentioned, which can clearly be seen at the left side of the document, there is a red wax seal by Clarke's signature.

Size. The document is approx. 12" wide x 15" high. Condition. There are some small holes on folds but the document is generally in extremely good condition with the usual folding creases. Payment. I am happy to accept personal cheques in sterling, euros or US dollars but will wait for them to clear before posting goods. Paypal also accepted but only in sterling.
Shipping. In addition to bid price, the buyer will also pay £2 uninsured postage and packing to the UK and £4 to other destinations.
