A reserve price is the minimum price the seller will accept. This price is hidden from bidders. To win, a bidder must have the highest bid and have met or exceeded the reserve price.
There are currently a huge amount of memory product FAKES and SCAMS operating on eBay.co.uk.
The following list covers many of the current popular scams out there
but is by no means exhaustive. Why not take a couple of minutes to read
on and educate yourself? Don't get caught out!
MODIFIED and FAKE
memory products: These are goods re-programmed to appear bigger in
capacity than they really are or are simply smaller in capacity than
advertised (ie. you purchase a 160Gb unit, it's properties show 160Gb, but you can only actually copy 40Gb).
COUNTERFEIT memory products: These are typically poor quality, ultra-slow performance, generic Grade B or Grade C memory products that are badged to look like top brand products such as Transcend, Sandisk and Kingston.
EBAY SELLERS falsely advertising that their memory products utilize top grade, branded memory like Samsung, Intel Micron or Toshiba when in fact the product actually contains poor quality, ultra-slow performance, Grade B or Grade C generic memory and controllers (ie. the chips that determine read/write speeds).
HONG KONG / CHINESE EBAY SELLERS masquerading as being based in the UK: Certain eBay sellers are providing VIRTUAL OFFICE LONDON and UK address
and telephone numbers but are actually based overseas. These sellers
provide extremely attractive pricing but actually supply sub-standard
and inferior memory products with little or zero customer service
levels. Think you're going to get a reply when you inevitably
experience a problem with one of these sellers or the unit arrives and
is not what you thought? THINK AGAIN!
EBAY SELLERS listing FREE postage but then re-directing you to a THIRD PARTY CHECKOUT where you are either forced or rail-roaded into actually paying an extortionate postage charge.
EBAY SELLERS listing USED,SECOND HAND, EX-DEMO or LIQUIDATED memory products but actually falsely advertising them as NEW.
If and when your order arrives you will find it is an unsealed,
non-retail packed memory product simply thrown into an envelope/jiffy
bag.
EBAY SELLERS listing memory products that apparently come with "FREE" award winning software. In reality, you actually receive 30-day "FREE" trial demo software that could cost you more than your actual memory purchase should you wish to purchase in full.
EBAY SELLERS offering a LIFETIME WARRANTY
but then disappearing after a few months never to be seen again or
actually providing very little or zero warranty/support when you need
it.
EBAY SELLERS
offering attractive, too good to be true pricing but not actually
advertising or displaying any legally required information such as BUSINESS, RETURNS or CUSTOMER SERVICE contact details.
Look CLOSELY for all the tell-tale signs above in other EBAY SELLERS listings and ask yourself WHY?
WHY is the EBAY SELLER not disclosing their contact details?
WHYdoes the EBAY SELLER have negative feedback relating to sending payment and returns overseas?
WHY and HOW can the EBAY SELLER offer a LIFETIME WARRANTY on a non branded, generic product?
CHECK the seller's feedback rating and be sure to analyse all the seller's NEGATIVE FEEDBACK
comments carefully. Look at the ratio of positive feedback comments to
negative. The higher the ratio, the better the customer service! Be
aware that even sellers with high feedback scores and high percentage
ratings can be untrustworthy and provide poor products and customer
service. It is not advisable to base a purchase solely on high feedback
scores and high percentage feedback ratings.
TRY and contact the seller BEFORE purchasing. If they do not respond BEFORE the sale, they are extremely unlikely to respond AFTER the sale.
But by far the biggest give away sign...

What if the item is not working?
Please be aware that Transcend have a 0.03% returns ratio. Most problems can be easily resolved by contacting us at techsupport@emaxstore.co.uk. However, as is the nature of electronic goods, from time to time faults can and do occur. Occasionally, goods can also arrive faulty. Dead on arrival (DOA) or faulty goods will be replaced out under the manufacturers warranty or money refunded. However, we must be advised of DOA items within 14 working days of purchase to be eligible for a refund.
Do I just post it back to you?
No. Please contact techsupport@emaxstore.co.uk in the first instance quoting your Order Ref. No. and eBay User Name. We will then issue you with an RMA Returns No. and correct returns address details. Any goods returned without a valid RMA Returns No. will not be processed. Additionally, Customer Services also know the common problems associated with Transcend products and may well be able to provide help without needing to return your order.
Do you pay returns postage?
It is the customers responsibility at all times to pay for and ship item(s) back to us. If the item(s) are found to be faulty within 14 working days of purchase, we will refund the return postage cost up to the maximum value of a first class, large letter stamp.
What if I have ordered the wrong item(s)?
As above, within 14 working days please contact our customer service department for a valid RMA Returns No. If unopened, we will issue you with a refund minus any postal charges incurred by us. Unwanted items must be returned to us with all parts and accessories complete. All goods returned and found to be fully functional will be subject to our standard 25% re-stocking fee.
