Selon les sagas, precisement a l'an 1000, Leif Ericson, fils de notoire Erik le Rouge, Debarques en Amerique du Nord environ 500 ans avant Christopher Columbus arrive en 1492.
Vikings ont etabli a moins un etablissement dans Amerique du Nord, mais il ne dura que quelques annees.
