A set of 16 laminated Reading Cards
These cards are part of the SoundWorks early literacy teaching programme. They are offered here as they may be of general interest as a teaching aid. They may also be useful to teachers who already use SoundWorks and would like an extra set of cards for children to take home or use in the classroom.

The Reading Cards form part of a phonic approach to early literacy. They progress gradually from simple three-letter words (CVC) to words with initial and final blends (CCVC, CVCC) and the digraphs 'ee' and 'oo'. A summary is given below:
1. 3-letter words with 'a'
2. 3-letter words with 'o'
3. 3-letter words with 'i'
4-5. 3-letter words with 'a' 'o' 'i' mixed
6. 3-letter words with 'e'
7. 3-letter words with 'u'
8. 3-letter words with 'e' and 'u' mixed
9-11. 3-letter words with the 5 vowels mixed
12-13. Words with initial blends
14. Words with final blends
15. Words with the digraph 'ee'
16 Words with the digraph 'oo'
