The pack contains 2 each of the following sizes:
19 gauge triangular, nine barbs
32 gauge triangular, nine barbs
36 gauge triangular, six barbs
38 gauge triangular, six barbs
40 gauge triangular, six barbs
43 gauge triangular, six barbs
38 gauge star, eight barbs
Our felting needles are top quality industrial strength and designed to make up to 30 million strokes before they wear out!!
The starter pack allows you to experiment with all the sizes we currently stock, so you can see which one(s) suit the type of needlefelting work you like to do.
All the needles have blades which are triangular in cross-section, except the 38 gauge star needle which has four edges to the blade.
As a guide to the different gauges available, the bigger the number, the finer the point of the needle. So a 43 gauge needle is used for very fine Merino wool, while for coarser wools a 32 gauge needle will be most suitable. The 19 gauge needle is ideal for starting off large projects, or for very coarse wools and fibres.
As these needles are very sharp, safety in use and storage is important. We are now supplying all our colour-coded needles in strong reusable plastic boxes.
