The NEW Cassini 'Revised New Series' enlarged historical OS maps - these maps are based upon the Ordnance Survey's Revised New Series maps which were first published between 1896 and 1909. They have all been carefully scanned, digitally re-projected and enlarged to match the present-day Ordnance Survey Landranger® series. Thus each Cassini Revised New Series map covers the same area of the corresponding modern OS Landranger® and uses the same sheet number and grid references, so enabling the past and the present to be compared with ease and accuracy. SEE ALSO the corresponding 19th century 'Old Series' and the 1920s 'Popular Edition' maps in my Ebay shop, both with the same map number. The publishers price is £7.99,  post & packing is included. Please ask about discounts for additional purchases.

This item is a brand new Cassini Historical Revised New Series coloured edition Map - based upon original Ordnance Survey maps first published in 1901/1903 and ENLARGED to enable easy comparison alongside it's equivalent modern Ordnance Survey map (especially useful for Family Historians - matching the era of the 1901 Census):

Cassini's Historical map series covers the whole of England and Wales. The Ordnance Survey 'Revised New Series' coloured edition was first published between 1896 and 1904 - a period which saw Britain at the height of its imperial prosperity, with a rail network around twice the size of today's and with all of its major cities and towns now well established but without much of the suburban sprawl that has since engulfed much of the surrounding countryside. The Revised New Series was the first of OS's mapping to experiment with the possibilities of colour printing and so provides a stunningly different view of the landscape from any which had gone before. For family historians the series will be particularly significant as it captures the period revealed by the 1901 Census.

Cassini Maps is a company specialising in sourcing, scanning, digitally enhancing and re-publishing historical maps in a variety of formats. Their aim is to produce maps of the highest quality which are also relevant to current-day research needs. So far Cassini have published the 1800s Old Series, the 1920s Popular Edition and now the 1890s Revised New Series.

The central feature of these Historical Map series is that the originals have been combined, re-scaled and re-projected exactly to match Ordnance Survery's modern-day Landrangers®. They even have the same map identification number and the same British National Grid references. This enables direct comparison of the past and present in a way not possible with maps of different specifications. They are the same size as the Landrangers® when open or folded and have a similar laminated colour cover.

Whether you're a local historian, a genealogist, a student, a walker or someone with a general interest in the history of your area, these maps will be a valuable addition to your library. Although often hidden behind unfamiliar names or buried under concrete or tarmac, the past is all around us and waiting to be discovered. Cassini's Historical Map series will help point out the way.
