ABOUT THE TESTS WE DO
We feel that a simple emissions test only gives part of the story regarding a tubes quality and performance.Therefore we take several further steps in our testing methods.All tubes are tested at various working voltages.Both anodes are tested and with varying grid voltages applied using realistic loading.The tubes are tested for linearity, gain, transconductance and anode match.For our category class 1 tubes we ensure that the tubes…..
1 Gm value is at or above specification
2 Anodes are closely matched to within less than 4% tolerance
3 Have Low microphonics and hum.
Category class 1: The tube anodes are perfectly matched (BALANCED) and the gm value is above average.
These tubes are good for all circuit positions and stages Particularly phase splitting positions and other positions where the anode match is absolutely critical. These tubes produce the best performance producing minimum noise and clear accurate detailed sound.
Note: we also sell Category class 2 tubes but this sale is forclass 1.
What's the difference between class 1 and class 2 ?
Class 1: Anodes perfectly matched, slightly higher cost than class 2 tube.
The class 2 tubes we supply are still well above specification of tubes being sold today. In fact most suppliers will ship tubes with anodes within each tube miss-matched by as much as 60%. We grade those types of tubes class 3 and do not sell them.
