This genuine camel leather satchel has been crafted for you by a small family business in the beautiful, ancient Thar Desert of Rajasthan, India.   Each bag is hand cut and stitched together on an antique Singer sewing machine left over from the British Raj period. The patriarch of the family swears it's better than the new machines. By the results, I'm sure you'll agree as well. You'll love the attention to details, from the fine double stitching on the trim, to the hand made brand, heated over a flame and stamped into the leather. Lightweight, strong and supple, this bag will last for years and get better with time. No dyes or treatments are used after the old world process of tanning the leather. The beautiful, smooth finish is achieved by rubbing the bags with linseed oil, which protects the leather from cracking as well as seals the leather for weather resistance. The leather naturally softens as you put mileage on it and it's rugged good looks will only improve with age.

The first bag I had made, over a decade ago while travelling the Subcontinent, has survived jungles, deserts and Delhi railway stations and still gets compliments. Perfect for your next destination, whether to Kathmandu or your local coffee shop.

Our signature line of hand crafted camel leather messenger bags and handbags is built on a friendship and business relationship that started with a worn out old saddle purchased in a cramped little antique shop across the alley from a small leather shop back in 1997, while I was exploring the Subcontinent for six months after college with a shoestring budget and a backpack.

The ancient leather of the saddle was about ready to crumble off the beautiful wood and iron frame, so I asked the leather worker across the alley if it would be possible to recreate what time had taken it's toll on. A day later, I had a perfect replacement, along with a superb custom made leather satchel to go along with it. Over the years I returned to the town several times and always made it a point to purchase some leather bags while I was passing through, and of course from the same craftsmen.

Over a decade later, we are still doing business and we are proud to bring these excellent bags and satchels to customers who value the unique character of hand crafted, highly functional creations by small scale family craftsmen.
