Sind was the first Indian Kingdom to fall to Islam (711/712 AD). The governors of Sind, set by the Khalifas from Baghdad became independent in the early 13th century AD, but their history is very obscure. In AD 1030 Sind was conquered by Mahmud of Ghazni.
