The tympanic membrane shares the same blood supply as the hypothalmus, the controller of body temperature. The FirstTemp Genius infrared thermometer has been specifically designed to provide one of the most accurate non-invasive measurements of core body temperature by processing and displaying infrared readings from the tympanic membrane.
With the Genius thermometer in the tympanic mode and with a probe cover in place, the probe tip is gently placed into the external auditory canal until a seal is made. On depressing the scan button, the temperature is taken in under 2 seconds. The Genius thermometer takes 32 individual infrared readings and using the unique "Peak Select" system, the most accurate reading possible is displayed.
The Genius allows a choice of display in oral, rectal or core equivalent values.
A mode selection button allows the choice of tympanic assessment, surface mode, pulse timer and a oC/oF option.
