Using Our Hair Oils
Deep Conditioning Treatment
- Pour ½ to 1 teaspoon of oil into your palm and spread between your hands
- Run hands through hair, evenly spreading the oil
- Comb or brush through dry of towel dry hair several times to spread the oil
- Leave oil on the hair for at least 15 minutes. For the best treatment I would recommend leaving over night so the oil can penetrate the hair shaft to the maximum
- Wash your hair with a gentle shampoo, such as our SLS free of solid shampoos. You may need to wash your hair twice
- For a hot oil treatment the oil can be warmed before use but please be careful not hot heat it too much as hot oil can burn
Scalp Treatment
- Using around 1 teaspoon of oil, dip your fingertips into the oil and massage into the scalp and roots vigorously
- Massaging the scalp in this way will help to increase circulation which in turn helps to promote healthy hair growth and reduce problems with dry or scaly skin on the scalp
- Leave the oil on the scalp for at least 15 minutes. If you are able to try and leave it in overnight for maximum effect before washing out using a gentle shampoo such as our SLS free or solid shampoo bars
Leave In Conditioning Treatment
- Apply a tiny amount of oil to the hands enough to coat the fingertips (about 5-20 drops for liquid oils or a small pea size for solid oils)
- Rub the oil through freshly washed, towel dry hair.
- Comb or brush several times whilst drying to make sure that the oil is spread evenly
- You should be left with shiny, glossy hair that is less prone to static and frizzing.
- If hair seems oily after application then it is normally because too much oil has been used or because the hair was not freshly washed.
Dry, Frizzy, Coarse, African or Afro Hair
- The oil can be applied to dry or towel dry hair (no need for it to be freshly washed)
- For ease of use spread ½ a teaspoon of oil between both hands and apply to the hair in small sections, adding more oil to the palms as needed.
- Oil should also be applied in small amounts to the scalp, again in sections. Massage the oil into the scalp vigorously to encourage improved circulation which will in turn increase the rate of hair growth and reduce dry skin problems on the scalp
- Hair should be left more easily combed, styled and straightened and the oil will protect it from the drying of heat used during styling
Dreadlocks
- Apply a ½ teaspoon of oil to the palms and spread evenly
- Take one section of hair at a time and apply the oil along the whole length replenishing oil on the hands as needed
- Oil should also be applied directly to the scalp and massaged in well
- Hair should be treated when it begins to feel dry, normally 1-3 times per week.
Please remember that this is a traditional, natural treatment and may not be compatible with modern treatments such as colorants.

As a therapist myself I understand the importance of using high quality oils and would only supply you with the very best also. Cheaper, lower quality oils are likely to have to be less well absorbed by the skin, leaving it feeling greasy.
