1000+ Campanula - Canterbury Bell Seeds

The Campanula is a hardy biennial group of flowers which possess a rare beauty. There are many varieties, but all have more or less bell-shaped flowers in delightful pastel colors ranging from white, blue, rose, violet-blue and lavender. This variety C. M. caly canthema is perhaps the best shower and satisfactory of the group, known as the cup and saucer, Canterbury bell it has a larger bloom that gives the appearance that the cup is sitting in a saucer. The stalks have narrow leaves that grow to 70cm a little more than 2ft, and may need staking to prevent wind damage. Dead head regularly to maintain as continuous bloom from June into the well into the autumn.

 
Easy to grow from seed these tiny seeds can be sown indoors from early spring and again in Autumn (for overwintering). Germination takes  10- 14 days. Plant out seedlings 30 - 40cm apart in  spring -  in a sunny position, they will tolerate sandy, rocky average soils. Plants may require some winter protection in snowy conditions as the snow may flatten the crown causing decade. Campanula can also be propagated by cuttings and division.
