General Information on NdFeB Magnets
Neodymium magnets are currently the most powerful magnets known to man. They have a strength which is around 10 times stronger than ceramic magnets. You can use a much smaller neodymium magnet in place of any other type and the holding force will be equal if not greater!!
Neodymium magnets are the most permenant of all magnets and do not require a keeper
Do not heat these magnets above 80 degrees C (175 F) or they will begin to lose there magnetic properties
The curie temperature of these magnets is 310 degrees C - this is the point at which the magnets will totally lose their magnetic properties.
Neodymium magnets are also known as NdFeB or NIB magnets because of their chemical composition - Neodymium, Iron & Boron. They are also commonly referred to as Neodymium or Neo magnets.
General Safety with NdFeB magnets
Never go anywhere near a person who is wearing a pacemaker with one of these magnets.
Caution must be exercised when handling neodymium magnets because of there great strength. If you are not used to handling magnets of this type then you will be amazed at their power. A magnet just the size of a 10p coin is very hard to seperate from iron or other magnets - you usually have to slide neodymium magnets apart because of their strength! Fingers can easily get pinched so please be careful.
Do not place these magnets near magnetic media such as credit cards & floppy discs
Neodymium magnets are very brittle and should not be allowed to slam together as the great speeds involved could easily shatter the magnets and throw magnetic shrapnel at high velocity.
Do not burn this type of magnet or it will release toxic fumes
