For optimum High end recording performance, set the EQ button to 70. On playback, you can change this to 120 if you like a little mid and hi frequency boost.  For a crisper sound of old recordings on playback, set the EQ button to 120. Tapes not made on your own deck may need this little boost. In really muddled sounding Hi-bias recordings, set your tape type to Type I (normal bias). This will provide a little hi frequency boost that Dolby takes away.
