Additional Information
Permanent agricultural grassland must be dominated by the preferred persistent and useful grass species. It is only these that produce a good quality, dense sward for many years whilst at the same time preventing invasive weed grasses with little or no feed value from establishing in the permanent ley. The grasses in this mixture are highly tolerant of defoliation, cold weather and will yield well through the entire growing season on all soil types, so the permanent sward never becomes thin or open to weed grass invasion. Timothy is included for both its winter hardiness and high palatability whilst the clover increases the protein level of the ley, hence this permanent grass mixture is excellent for grazing with all types of milk and meat stock or cutting for conservation.
