1 Neodymium (NdFeB) Block Magnet42mm x 8mm x 10mm
Brand New, unused, in packagingThis listing is for one pack of 1 Neodymium (NdFeB) 42mm x 8mm x 10mm block magnet.
*Pull is measured on a horizontal steel plate. To work out what the holding force would be on a vertical surface divide the pull by 4 They are magnetised axially through the depth. Neodymium (chemical symbol Nd) is element 60 on the periodic table. It’s a rare earth metal and forms one of the Lanthanides series. When added to Iron (Fe) and Boron (B) (chemical formula Nd14Fe21B) the resultant magnets are the strongest magnets currently available. Neodymium magnets are sometimes known as Neod or NIB magnets. Their uses are very varied but care must be taken because they are brittle if allowed to jump together, are normally only safe for use below 80°C/176°F although we do stock some high and extra high operating temperature magnets. The smaller magnets are often used for jewellery clasps, magnetic therapy jewellery, magnetic earrings (one each side of the ear), fridge magnets, model train connecters, motors, science projects etc. Larger magnets are used for science projects, actuators, separators, speakers, pumps, magnetic therapy and circuit breakers in power stations. Neodymium magnets are usually coated to prevent the iron from rusting. Normally this is a Nickel-Copper-Nickel plating, however, Zinc, Tin, Black Nickel, Gold and Silver plating are also used as are Epoxy resin and PTFE (better known under the brand name Teflon). The Gold and Silver plated magnets are often used to make homemade magnetic therapy jewellery. Particularly using a number of spheres to make necklaces or bracelets. Here’s just some of the uses that we know our neodymium magnets have been put to:
