Pewter is an alloy of tin, the fourth most valuable metal in general use, and small quantities of other materials which add strength to the final product.
Pewter was first introduced the UK around the 2nd Century A.D. by the romans. However, the product that we have today was revolutionised by James Vickers in 1769. He introduced a new alloy mix of pewter and combined this with the metal working skills found in his native Sheffield to bring a new dimension to the industry.
