Atlas Die-Cast 1/144 Scale Aircraft - RAF De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito - Mark IV Bomber.

This is your opportunity to own a highly collectible 1/144 die-cast replica of this famous aircraft from the Atlas Military Giants of the Sky Series.

This superb pre-painted and assembled die-cast model requires only installation of the undercarriage to complete. These are a simple push fit. The model also has an optional and attractive heavy duty black plastic flying display stand bearing the name of the aircraft in silver.

Historical Information

The De Havilland DH-98 Mosquito was constructed almost entirely from balsa and plywood in anticipation that strategic metals would become scarce. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, it was not only a fast fighter but the high altitude bomber version could deliver the same bomb-load to distant targets as the four-engined Boeing B-17. "The Mossie," as it was affectionately called, could operate without defensive armament. It was therefore not only effective as a fighter and bomber but was invaluable for aerial reconnaissance and pathfinder duties. When fitted with radar it served effectively in night fighting and night intruder roles. A total of 7,781 of these truly versatile 'Wooden Wonders' were manufactured.

DETAILED INFORMATION

The model measures approximately 85 mm in length with a wing span of 112 mm (3.3" x 4.4").

It is mint and boxed in a tailor-made vacum formed polystyrene box with clear plastic cover. The box measures 140mm x 140mm x 40mm overall and weighs approx 100 grams including the model. It will be shipped in a strong custom made cardboard box with additional foam / polystyrene inserts to prevent movement and ensure safe transport.
