When should I start putting my baby in a baby sleeping bag?
You can start using our smallest 0-6 months size baby sleeping bag usually when your baby is about six weeks old or when your baby's weight is at least 7lb. This is about the time when babies outgrow the need for swaddling. Always make sure that your baby's head won't easily pass through the head-hole of the sleeping bag.
It's important to buy the correct size for your child. If the head-hole is too big, your baby could slip down inside the baby sleeping bag and not be able to breathe
Why don't the baby sleeping bags have sleeves? Won't my child get cold?
Most babies sleep with their arms out of the blankets. The armholes help air to circulate so that your child won't overheat. As long as you dress your child appropriately inside their sleep sack, their temperature should stay constant throughout the night.
How do I dress my child when they're in a baby sleeping bag?
All of our baby sleeping bags come with a table that will help you to decide how to dress your child in different bedroom temperatures. A short-sleeved bodysuit will be fine in hot weather, and a long-sleeved bodysuit and warm pyjamas are likely to be necessary in winter.
What are the Sleepythings™ baby sleeping bags made of?
All our baby sleeping bags have 100% cotton lining and also cotton outer, which breathes, absorbs moisture, and is hypoallergenic. It won't make your child hot and sweaty like polar fleece can. They have polyester fill which is hypo-allergenic, breathable, easy-care, and fire-retardant. When used in a well-fitting baby sleeping bag, polyester fill is safe for your baby.
Current sleep safety advise:
The safest place for your baby to sleep is on their back in a cot in your room for the first 6 months. Keep your baby smoke-free.
Do not let your baby get too hot.
Keep your baby’s head uncovered.
Never fall asleep with your baby on a sofa or armchair .
DO NOT USE the following bedding for babies under 12 months:
Cot Quilts or Duvet
Pillow
Sheepskin
Hot Water Bottle
How do I care for my baby sleeping bag?
Our baby sleeping bags are fully machine washable and can be tumble dried on low heat. Only iron baby sleeping bags with a cool iron if necessary – overzealous ironing can permanently squash the polyester fill. Always do up the zip before washing.
What does "tog" mean?
"Tog" is a measurement of the warmth. The higher the tog, the warmer the baby sleeping bag.
What are your standard tog ratings?
Sleepythings™ Baby Sleeping Bags are available in three tog ratings:
2.5 Tog - Ideal for standard nursery temperatures of 17-20°C
1.0 Tog - Use during warmer weather and in nurseries of 20-24°C
0.5 Tog - For hot weather and very warm nursery environment of 24-27°C
Please remember that these are recommendations only as every baby is individual. You will soon discover the correct level of clothing for your baby.
What are your standard sizes?
Our Sleepythings™ Baby Sleeping Bags are available in the following standard sizes:

My child can crawl/walk. Won't they find a baby sleeping bag annoying?
Baby sleeping bags are meant to be used in a cot for sleeping in. They're not for wandering around the house in. They give children more freedom than blankets because they can move wherever they want in the cot without the blankets coming off. Children can stand up in a baby sleeping bag, but they find it hard to climb out of the cot in one! Because baby sleeping bags are fitted, and in most cases padded/quilted, they are unlikely to twist around your child if you have an active sleeper. If your child is too old for a cot but prefers to sleep in a baby sleeping bag, you can teach them how to take their sleeping bag off before they get out of bed.
